Frequently Asked Questions

What do you mean when you say your “foot alignment system biomechanically accommodates the foot”?

At Biocorrect, our Certified Pedorthists and Biomechanical Specialists perform extensive studies on your functional and structural imbalances and combine the use of muscle balance strengthening, proper shoes, and custom insoles, to address the motion and the control of the weight-bearing structures of the foot. The foot is made up of a complex combination of bones, muscles, ligaments, and joints that move separately and subsequently adapt to the body imbalances on different terrains. We look at and adjust the foot by altering its adaptation and controlling rotation of the ankle, lower leg, knee, and hip.

A Pedorthist (peh-DOR-thist) is an allied health professional who manufactures, fits, modifies and provides patients with foot orthoses and shoes. Pedorthists play an important role on the healthcare team.

A Certified Pedorthist, or C.Ped., is a health care professional specifically educated and trained to manage comprehensive pedorthic patient care. This includes patient assessment, formulation of a treatment plan, implementation of the treatment plan, follow-up, and practice management. Pedorthic care includes patient evaluation, and the design, fabrication, fitting, modification, maintenance and repair of pedorthic devices for the prevention or amelioration of painful and/or disabling conditions that originate at the ankle or below.

Our custom foot orthotics come with a limited warranty covering manufacturing defects and workmanship issues for a period of 90 days from the date of the fitting/dispensing appointment. This warranty applies to the original purchaser and is non-transferable.

What Is Covered:

  • Defects in materials or craftsmanship.
  • Delamination or structural failure due to normal usage within the warranty period.
  • Up to (4) follow-up appointments within the first year from the date that you receive your orthotics, which include adjustment(s) or modification(s) made to the device(s).

What Is Not Covered:

  • Normal wear and tear, including but not limited to scuffs, fading, or general deterioration. • Damage caused by improper use, unauthorized modifications, or exposure to extreme conditions (e.g., heat, moisture, or chemicals).
  • Issues resulting from changes in foot health, weight, or activity levels.
  • Discomfort or lack of effectiveness due to improper fit if fitting instructions were not followed.
  • Replacement or repairs due to misuse or accidents.
  • Modifications made by third parties will void the warranty. If the product is deemed defective, repair(s) or a replacement can be made at no additional cost. Repair(s) or replacement(s) are determined by the manufacturer. Shipping costs may apply.

In some cases, health insurance may cover some of the costs of custom orthotics. When this is the case, it often requires specific pre-requisites in order to qualify. We will help you figure out your insurance coverage and specific cost at the time of your evaluation. If you are not eligible for custom foot orthotics on your plan, we will not bill your insurance, and the expense will be out of pocket.

If we are not billing your insurance company, our policy is to collect payment at the time services are rendered. Payment can be made by cash, check, MasterCard, Visa, Discover, AMEX, HSA accounts, or FSA accounts. We also offer a payment plan program at no cost to our patients. Please inquire with one of our team members if you are interested in establishing a payment plan with us.

Yes, we offer virtual appointments. You can learn more about how virtual appointments work on our Virtual Care page.

We accept all methods of payment: Cash, Check, Discover Card, Mastercard, Visa, American Express, and Care Credit.

We are dedicated and committed to addressing the unique needs of each individual. Our staff’s expertise and experience working with the industrial worker, general population, and athletes continue to inspire us to develop a unique orthotic application specific to each individual’s needs, unlike any other traditional or conventional orthotic devices on the market.

Unfortunately, traditional and conventional orthotic devices have relied on an over-the-counter, one-shape-fits-all approach, focusing on the arch for temporary pain relief. The foot is an extremely complex piece of equipment with multiple moving parts that act as “shock absorbers” for the entire body, and blocking the arch as a means of control, merely displaces the body’s impact, in ways that can lead to biomechanical insufficiencies and injury. An arch centered approach to the foot is often unsuccessful because it does not properly address common foot injuries when most biomechanical injuries and conditions are caused by an imbalance of the forefoot.
